Video/Action:

[It's the dead of night, and Gorthan is in a room at the Ecruteak City inn. If the scientist doesn't look happy in the least, it's because he is not. He is, in fact, very, very angry. Angry about what happened to the Kimono Girls and their theatre. Angry at the people who did it, whoever they are.

And most of all? He's angry at himself, for being part of something that allows and even encourages this level of horrible cruelty.

The video is a close-up of Gorthan's face, the focus being on his narrowed eyes and furrowed brow, his usual circular markings very visible.]

"O, be thou damned, inexecrable dog!
And for thy life let justice be accused.
Thou almost mak’st me waver in my faith,
To hold opinion with Pythagoras
That souls of animals infuse themselves
Into the trunks of men. Thy currish spirit
Governed a wolf who, hanged for human slaughter,

[As he recites the quotation, his voice is loud, deep and scary, almost a growl in some parts. At times his hands tremble with rage, making the camera shift a little. When that happens, one may catch a glimpse of Gorthan's Elgyem in a corner of the screen. And while it's hard to tell an Elgyem's emotions, it's pretty easy to tell that this one is seriously intimidated right now. It recoils away from its trainer, its eyes open wide and its colorful lights blinking wildly.

At the end of the quotation, however, Gorthan appears to regain a certain degree of composure. He sighs, throwing his head back a little for a moment, takes a few deep breaths and picks up his Elgyem, pulling the smaller alien into his lap. When he speaks again, it's clear that he has successfully managed to calm down.]

I have arrived in Ecruteak City. I believe I do not need to inform you about what has occurred here. All of you know by now, I am sure.

I am on my way. In fact, I have an idea for the girls! A new friend of mine got me thinking, and I want to help out!

My friend and I were talking about the festivals that used to be held here. That got me thinking about something to do for those poor girls.

A fundraiser play! A play fundraiser! Whatever you want to call it, we will perform and raise money!!!

Of course I was upset too, but I couldn't help wondering if that's what the attackers wanted. They want us to cower in fear so we will always obey them. But we need to show them that we will never back down. What they have destroyed, we will create.

It would indeed be a mistake to let fear take its toll. I should know that better than anyone else... but evidently, I still have much to learn.

A classic fairy tale? Ah, I was hoping for Shakespeare... but perhaps a fairy tale would be more popular. How about Snow White? It is one of my favorites.

I've never heard of 'Shakespeare' before, but Snow White is one of my favorites!!! Love at first sight, good defeating evil, princesses and princes, magic, true love's kiss... I would read that story over and over back home~

[Ugh, the thought of an alternate Earth without Shakespeare, or Van Gogh, or a bunch of Gorthan's other favorite artists, is a bit... ]

You seem to be forgetting the part about the Queen and the Huntsman.

Oh of course, those are great characters too. But in every story, the romance is my favorite part~ And maybe in our version of the story, we can let the Huntsman escape the Queen's wrath! Since he didn't kill Snow White, he should get a happy ending too.

I don't think he would deserve a happy ending for failing to kill the girl. But he does deserve it, for willing to go through so much just to satisfy the Queen's vanity in the first place.

But... what would such a happy ending be?

[Every conversation they have now is just so full of emotions.]

Let me see...

Maybe the Queen locks him up, but he manages to escape, and goes off to warn the prince about what's happened! And then when the prince and Snow White are reunited, the Huntsman can live with them in the castle as a squire and helper!

That would be good. Any happy ending he could ever get is necessarily as far away from the Queen as possible... She is nothing but a bad influence on him.

I wonder if there could ever be a happy ending even for someone like the Queen. Likely not.

[By now it's clear that this is not just about the story of Snow White anymore, isn't it?]

[She's slowly coming around to that fact, yes.]

Stories can always change. Even the Queen can be given a happy ending, if we think hard about it. Perhaps she was under a spell herself, and it can be broken... and someone like Snow White would accept her with open arms.

People and stories can always change. We just have to make the effort.

It was Team Rocket who assaulted those women and vandalized the theatre. I actually am in no position to be outraged or scandalized - I have done far worse things, back when I was different.

But I have changed. And what they did horrifies me and fills me with righteous rage. And because of that, I no longer know if I can be a part of... you know.

We will discuss this further in person, won't we?

Yes, yes, that much is obvious; I can't say I'm exactly pleased with our coworkers either.

[There's a bit of a pause over the audio feed before Descole replies, the soft clink of what sounds like metallic instruments clinking together; he's organizing again, trying to gather thoughts.]

I suppose I don't see any sense in it.

[Could that be his equivalent of Gorthan's joining his hands behind his back?]

The sense is evidently fear. Targeting a symbol of culture, of the past, amplifies its effect.

And yet it seems entirely unnecessary. From what I have seen, the organization is respected and feared enough for its purposes and optimal functioning, I believe.
