VIII. Video/Action for Ecruteak City. + text.
Video/Action:
[The first seconds of Gorthan's Video feed show his profile through a doorway. He seems to be talking to someone who is obscured by the presence of a white wall. And judging by Gorthan's words, that someone is more than one person.]
I will be leaving soon, my dear ladies. My presence is needed in Goldenrod again. But worry not. All of you are healing up well and should be able to return home soon. I will personally keep in touch with that incompetent who was originally assigned to you as a doctor to ensure that my recommendations are being followed at all times. It was a true honor to assist you. I can already assure you that part of my salary will go to you, so you will be able to rebuild your theatre as soon as possible.
[After which Gorthan himself disappears from view. There are a few unintelligible words, women's voices along with Gorthan's own. About a minute later, Gorthan walks out of the room and closer to the camera.]
Noctowl. Do not worry, I have no intention to replace you yet. Now, kindly let go of my Pokégear, if you will.
[The video cuts, only to resume again in the open. Buildings and trees can be seen in the background while Gorthan speaks to the camera, his expression pretty much neutral.]
Will someone inform me of the events that took place in Goldenrod? I was so absorbed in my work here, I seem to have missed something.
Private text to "Caroline" (
neurotoxined):
[Um, Gorthan's been texting her regularly, at least once a day. Small, inane things. Like "Good morning"s and "Goodnight"s. In what is some really mild flirting, whose mildness is due to the fact that a) Gorthan has been really busy, b) it's not that he doesn't know how to flirt (although that is partially the case), he's just been wondering if he should do it at all. Today's text is a bit different from the others.]
I am now on my way to base. Are you still there? I am looking forward to meeting you.

So you're finally returning? I did enjoy your play, Gorthan.
[There's nothing there to indicate that Archer is mocking - he sounds genuine. He is a patron of the arts after all--]
[--okay no, he honestly can't stand most forms of "art," and plays are no exception. Still, you seemed to enjoy yourself, and he's trying not to be any more obvious about this.]
I'm not entirely sure on all the details, unfortunately. Cobra Commander threatened to destroy the Game Corner if he didn't have his demands met - he wanted money, the HM for Fly, and the city - but someone took care of the bomb threat before he could destroy the place. I believe he sent out bombs in the mail and at least one person was hurt by it.
[Archer leans forward, resting his chin on his folded hands.]
That's unfortunately all I know. I'm not sure what he's trying to pull.
[VIDEO] - LOCKED
It was not my play. It was Minnie's - all of the credit goes to her. Did you make a donation, by any chance?
Ah, Cobra Commander. Planning such actions without input from the only Evronian in Johto... it figures it would end in failure. Incidentally, since bombs were involved...?
[He lets the sentence trail off, while eyeing Archer allusively. Kimblee was part of the operation, wasn't he?]
[VIDEO] - LOCKED
[He "donated" all right...]
It seems everything he does ends in failure.
[What's that look for? Archer quirks an eyebrow for a moment before realizing what Gorthan's getting at.]
And you believe I would help him? Hardly. I have no interest in aiding his endeavors. Kimblee had nothing to do with it either - though I will admit, I was a bit suspicious when I heard about the bombs.
[That's all an elaborate lie, of course. Kimblee was indeed behind it, though Archer is actually innocent for once.]
[VIDEO] - LOCKED
You just lied to me, Archer. What am I supposed to do with you?
[VIDEO] - LOCKED
[Cue smirk.]
But I'll humor you. Why do you believe I'm lying?
[VIDEO] - LOCKED
But I understand why you would want to hide that from me, and from others as well. You're protecting your friend.
An Evronian would never even think of an act of such charity. Truly Earthlings are an amazing species...
[And again, his tone is mostly conversational, if a bit patronizing in a kind of motherly way.]
[VIDEO] - LOCKED
[Archer's smirk falters. He's normally quite good at lying his way through anything, but he's a bit out of practice here. By the time he recovers, he's well aware that there isn't anything he can do to save face, so he'll simply have to roll with it.]
You've been here for quite some time, Gorthan. Surely you've witnessed acts of charity before. You were assisting in one recently.
[...Cue tsun, then.]

Enjoying some private time with your ladies~?
[ALL OF THE VULGARITY is implied. All of it.]
Video
Ecruteak City. Did you miss the show we broadcast to the network? I hope you didn't. Frankly, it would have been a shame.
And it does, indeed, turn out that I am quite likable as a medical doctor. Which is something you would probably do well to remember, given your... not particularly liver-friendly track record.
Video
[Is tone is far too airy and affectionate for that sentence to be taken comfortably or, at least, Ivan hopes so. If you're into tall heavy drinking Russian men Gorthan he might have a problem... But he's pretty damn sure that isn't the case.]
I admit I only caught parts of show- was more my monsters watching it than myself. Could not donate, so did not think it would be fair to take pleasure in others hard work without doing so.
Also, have been busy with things.
Video
[Suddenly, no irritation or animosity whatsoever! Your country and its history are much more interesting. Bring it!]
A shame, indeed. Speaking of your monsters, were you able to evolve any of them?
Video
[He raises an eyebrow at the sudden mood change, or as much/little as he sees occur. What just happened? Why did you cut off your own question?
Also, aawwww shucks- if he knew you thought Gorthan he'd be pleased. Ridiculously. Because his history is pretty damn interesting.]
No. No evolutions yet. Have been levelling more than looking into that, since evolved monsters do not learn moves, or some such nonsense.
Video
[Aaah, just tell him more. ;A; Tell him everything.]
A wise choice. Yes, some evolutions, most of them necessarily trainer-induced, do abort the move-learning progression, as odd as that is. hm... perhaps evolutionary events that are almost impossible in a natural environment force a genetic change so thorough that some pathways... ah, I am rambling, am I not.

She didn't really think anything of this text when it came in, then; probably another greeting really -
...oh. Well. That's new.]
I haven't gone anywhere.

[Wheatley's kind of. dragged her outside. :|]
The city isn't bad, really.

You see, while I would like to say that the only reason why I am returning to Goldenrod is to meet you, the truth is fairly different.

I'm busy. If you work here, I'd hope you would to be, too.

Believe me, I will be very busy as soon as I arrive. Your help will be appreciated, but not necessary, particularly if you have other projects to tend to.
[He's absolutely intrigued by the fact that she already acts like she owns the place.]

[Enjoy the pretty woods in the background! Gorthan's en route to Goldenrod.]
[Locked video.]
[[Because he didn't find it exciting. The bombs didn't denonate properly, there was no masterpiece! It's rather depressing.]]
You'll find me to be nothing but truthful~
[Locked video.]
An unfulfilled promise feels like more of a lie to you than what you have just told me. Is that correct?
[Locked video.]
You're en route back to Goldenrod, no? When do you think you'll return?
[Locked video.]
Say. How fast are you at assembling machine parts?
[His tone is very casual. The question is asked out of curiosity, and it doesn't seem like he's about to assign Kato a task.]
